Two children die of measles in Lower South Waziristan
Two children have died of measles in Lower South Waziristan’s Shakai Valley and Sanga. Officials cite parental refusal of MMR vaccination as a contributing factor.
WANA (Dunya News) – Two children, a boy and a girl, have died of measles in the Shakai Valley and Sanga areas of Lower South Waziristan.
According to the District Health Officer, the parents of the deceased girl had refused to participate in the MMR vaccination campaign, leaving the child unvaccinated.
The Health Department stated that doctors had advised the families to admit the affected children to the DHQ Hospital for treatment. However, both children could not survive due to complications from the disease.
Health authorities have urged citizens to ensure timely vaccination of children to prevent measles and other life-threatening infections.
