KARACHI (Dunya News) – A passenger arriving from Saudi Arabia on a foreign airline flight was immediately shifted to the Infectious Diseases Hospital, NIPA, after showing symptoms of monkeypox during screening at Karachi airport.

According to airport sources, health officials conducted routine screening when the passenger landed in Karachi. During the check-up, the passenger was found to have a high fever and rashes on the body, and he also complained of having a persistent fever for the past five days.

Following the symptoms, Sindh health authorities acted quickly and transferred the passenger to the hospital for isolation and further medical examination. Samples have been sent to the National Institute of Health (NIH) for confirmation of the virus.

Health teams at the airport have been put on alert, while other passengers and crew who came into contact with the patient are being monitored as a precautionary measure.

Officials said the situation is under control, but the case has raised fresh concerns about imported infections and the need for strict health screening at international entry points.
