Pakistani surgeon sets record in robotic surgery field

(Web Desk) – Dr Amer Raza, a Pakistani surgeon, led a team of surgeons in London to set a world record for operating a record number of women living with endometriosis in two days, said reports.

Mr Raza, who currently works as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Chelsea and Westminster NHS Hospital, performed a “phenomenal” 12 surgical procedures earlier this month, assisted by the Da Vinci surgical robot.

Following the surgery, the surgeon told media: “We really impressed ourselves and the Trust is keen for us to work together to understand how it worked so efficiently. Hopefully we can translate this into every single list we do in the hospital.”

He said the robotics technology not only reduce the surgery time but also ensure more safety and accuracy than a conventional approach.
Expressing excitement over achieving the landmark, he said the efforts will prove helpful for women of all age groups.

Who is Dr Amer Raza?

Mr Raza currently works as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Chelsea and Westminster NHS Hospital. He is a passionate expert in laparoscopic surgery and specific interest in excisional surgery for endometriosis. He has vast experience in minimal access surgery and is an accredited endometriosis specialist.

Mr Raza visited national and international centres of laparoscopic surgery and endometriosis to get the best expertise. He leads on many laparoscopic training programmes around the world and in UK. Multidisciplinary approach, individualised care and bespoke care plan are the fundamental distinctive qualities of his care. He has worked in major University hospitals and large tertiary centres of excellence in UK and abroad.

He is also co-founder and director of CCMIG (Chelsea centre of minimal access Gynaecology) which is one of the largest online portals for training in laparoscopic surgery offering its services internationally.

He also provides his obstetric services for pregnant mothers. His exposure and experience over the years have enabled him to understand the complexities of pregnancy and its value in life.
