DERA BUGTI (Dunya News) – Reports circulating on social media claiming that renowned Balochi folk singer Mai Subhai had been shot dead in Dera Bugti have turned out to be false and misleading, according to the district administration.
The claim initially emerged on social media, alleging that the folk singer had been killed in a shooting incident in Dera Bugti on Wednesday.
The unverified information subsequently spread beyond social media and was carried by several television channels and other media outlets.
However, information that emerged later established that the reported killing had not taken place. Mai Subhai had, in fact, passed away several years ago, making claims about her recent murder incorrect.
The district administration also formally rejected the reports.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Deputy Commissioner South Dera Bugti denied that any incident involving the alleged killing of Mai Subhai had occurred in the district.
The administration described the reports as “false and misleading” and clarified that no such murder had taken place in Dera Bugti.
