PCB denies British newspaper claims on ICC Champions Trophy 2025 finale
No truth to the reports of venue change from Lahore to other place
LAHORE (Dunya News/Web Desk) - The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has vehemently dimissed claims made by a British newspaper suggesting that the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy final could be relocated from Lahore to Dubai if India qualifies.
The PCB has reiterated its commitment to hosting all matches of the tournament, including the final, within Pakistan.
“Despite the ongoing political tensions between India and Pakistan, the PCB remains steadfast in its stance to ensure a successful and uninterrupted tournament,” PCB clarified.
"There is absolutely no truth to the reports suggesting that the Champions Trophy final could be moved outside Pakistan," said a PCB spokesperson. "We are working diligently to ensure that all preparations for the tournament are on track, and we are confident that Pakistan will be able to host a memorable event."
The cricket board has also initiated several upgrades to the stadiums across Pakistan to accommodate the expected influx of fans and international cricketers. These renovations are part of the PCB's broader efforts to enhance the country's cricket infrastructure and promote Pakistan as a top cricketing destination.
It is worth noting that the 2025 Champions Trophy is set to take place from February 19 to March 9, with a reserve day on March 10.
Matches will be held in three cities: Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. Lahore will host seven matches, including the grand final, while the National Stadium in Karachi will stage the opening match and one semi-final. Rawalpindi is scheduled to host five matches, including the other semi-final.
The semi-finals are set for March 5 and 6 in Karachi and Rawalpindi, respectively, leading up to the final, which will take place in Lahore on March 9.
