Met office refutes reports about prevalence of extreme weather from Jan 12-15

Advises people not to pay any heed to such fake news

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Meteorological Department on Wednesday rejected reports circulating on social media about prevalence of harsh weather from January 12 to 15.

A spokesperson of Met office said the department was continuously monitoring the weather and rejected rumours taking rounds on social media about extreme weather conditions.

The Met office further said that normally the month of January is usually very cold and advised the people not to pay any heed to such false claims and fake news.

It may be recalled that on social media a fake warning was issued to people quoting the Met office that the period from January 12-15 could prove the coldest in Pakistan's 100 years history.

In the fake news, it was claimed that central Punjab district including Gujrat, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Multan, Khanewal, Bahawalpur, Kasur, Vehari, Okara, Sahiwal, Hafizabad, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Chinot, Sargodha, Khushab, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur and Rahim Yar Khan could experience snowfall during the period.
