Facebook post falsely linked to Lisa Marie Presley after star’s death
(Web Desk) - A screenshot of a social media post discussing COVID-19 vaccination is circulating alongside false suggestions it was authored by Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of the late Elvis, who died on Thursday.
Presley died after being rushed to hospital, her mother Priscilla Presley said in a statement. She suffered cardiac arrest aged 54 in her Los Angeles home, according to the entertainment website TMZ.
Lisa Marie Presley’s death prompted baseless assertions on social media that the event was linked to COVID-19 vaccination.
Users also shared a screenshot of a Facebook post from May 2022, purporting from Presley’s account, about the experience of getting vaccinated against COVID-19.
“The vaccines prevent serious illness, hospitalization, and death from COVID-19. The COVID-19 vaccines are free, even if you don’t have health insurance or aren’t a U.S. citizen,” the post says.
These words were not published by Lisa Marie Presley, however, but by a blogger’s page named “Lisa Marie” (IBB. co/TkQBzF2).
Reuters has reached out to the owner of the account for comment.
