Social media claim that military has arrested son of Joe Biden is 'false'

(Reuters) – Social media claim that Hunter Biden, son of US President Joe Biden, was arrested by the military are false and originated from an unreliable website.

President Joe Biden s embattled son continues to be the subject of baseless conspiracy theories on social media.

An Aug 30 article from a website called Real Raw News says the US military arrested Hunter Biden at Washington Dulles International Airport on Monday morning. He was returning from Dubai with "two underage female companions" and "several kilograms of  crack-cocaine, " the article claims.

The article’s text begins, “Elements of the U.S. military working under JAG authority arrested Hunter Biden on Monday morning as he and two underage female companions tried to reenter the United States after deboarding a chartered flight that originated in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.”

Real Raw News has a history of publishing misleading or false articles about well-known public figures and celebrities.

Reuters has debunked content from Real Raw News multiple times.

The website states in its ‘About Us’ section “Information on this website is for informational and educational and entertainment purposes. This website contains humor, parody, and satire. We have included this disclaimer for our protection, on the advice of legal counsel.”

Hunter Biden can be seen in recent photos posted to the Daily Mail here on Aug. 23, 2021.

Reuters could find no reports or credible evidence of Biden’s arrest.

US military officials told Reuters via email this was “completely false.”
