News regarding recovery of Pakistani CNICs from Afghans declared fake
Cards, along with other recovered documents, are in the Landi Kotal Police Station
LAHORE (Web Desk) – News on social media claims about Taliban recovering Pakistani CNICs from Afghan nationals has been declared as fake.
In a tweet, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) said that the image of the Afghan commander s (Sarteef) Pakistani CNIC circulating on social media was actually made under a traditional system (paper-based finger capturing system) in 2002 which (card) had been deactivated in 2007 under the digital biometric system introduced by NADRA.
According to the NADRA, reports of Taliban seizing Pakistani CNICs from Afghans on social media are completely baseless. “In fact, the cards, along with other recovered documents, are in the Landi Kotal Police Station,” it added.
The NADRA s statement further maintained that such baseless and fabricated news was exposed in the media by the Afghan Taliban in Spin Buldak, Kandahar, which is completely based on lies. “We urge the people not to spread such rumors which would damage the reputation of the national institution at the national and international level.”
