Islamabad administration decides to register criminal cases against fake news propagator

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Fake news and conspiracy theories have exponentially increased in Pakistan regarding coronavirus pandemic in the country.

Islamabad administration has decided to take action against propagators of fake news about coronavirus and criminal cases will be registered against those found involved in the practice.

Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad Hamza Shafqat said that rumors have played role in spread of coronavirus in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

On the other hand, today Pakistan reported record 6,472 coronavirus cases in one day and 88 more deaths by novel coronavirus were reported as the number of positive cases has surged to 132,405.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic followed by Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

Till now 50,087 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Punjab, 49,256 in Sindh, 16,415 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 7,866 in Balochistan, 7,163 in Islamabad, 1,044 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 574 in Azad Kashmir.
