Israeli forces, Palestinian fighters in most intense battles so far in Khan Younis: Monitors

Fighting between Israeli forces and Palestinian fighters in Gaza’s southern Khan Younis on Wednesday was the most intense in over two months, and Palestinian armed groups are continuing to attack Israelis in areas they had previously “cleared” in the war-torn territory.

The Institute for the Study of War and the Critical Threats Project, two US-based think tanks, also said that a senior Hamas official has called for Palestinian fighters from other armed groups to escalate their attacks on Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank.

Gaza is also experiencing its longest and most widespread internet blackout since Israel’s war on the enclave started on October 7, the monitors said in their latest battlefield update.

15 hospitals barely functioning as Gaza healthcare system collapses

The healthcare system in Gaza is collapsing, with it becoming another casualty of Israel’s war in the Palestinian territory.

“Every time I went to the hospitals, I saw evidence, again and again, of the simultaneous humanitarian catastrophe that’s unfolding,” said Sean Casey of the World Health Organization.

Israeli snipers deployed as military raid continues in occupied West Bank’s Tulkarem

We understand from our sources that gunfire has recently been heard in Tulkarem.

The Israeli army has blocked off all the entrances to the refugee camp and there are snipers on the rooftops.

So it remains a very active situation.

They have also raided, overnight, refugee camps in Hebron and Ramallah.

The bigger picture is that this is happening on a daily and nightly basis.

It happened even before October 7. It was a daily reality in the occupied West Bank, but certainly there’s been an incredible increase in these raids.

The Palestinian government says around 40 raids are taking place every day.

Israel’s Ben-Gvir calls for occupation of Gaza, ‘encouraging’ Palestinians to leave

Israel’s ultra-nationalist, far-right minister of national security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, has called for Israel’s occupation of the Gaza Strip and said that Palestinians should be “encouraged” to leave the territory.

In an interview with Israel’s Channel 13 news on Wednesday night, Ben-Gvir said: “There is no other way to restore security to the State of Israel” other than a full occupation of the Palestinian territory.

“Voluntary immigration of the residents of Gaza should be encouraged,” he told the channel in a studio interview.

He also criticised how Israel was fighting its war on Gaza, saying Israeli soldiers were doing an “excellent job”, but the Israeli government cabinet was not supporting them properly, according to reports.

“I hope that Likud elements do not set us back in terms of achievements,” he said of the war.

UN experts warned this week that the entire population of Gaza is experiencing hunger, the territory faces a devastating famine that will kill many, and at least 24,448 people have been killed so far and 61,504 wounded in Israel’s war on the besieged enclave since October 7.

UN agency chief warns of bleak post-war future for Gazans

JERUSALEM (AFP) – The head of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees, Philippe Lazzarini, warned Wednesday of the bleak future facing Gazans after the war between Hamas and Israel ends.

Following his fourth visit to the Palestinian territory since the war erupted on October 7, the UNRWA chief said many residents are no longer able to see "the future in the Gaza Strip".

"You have hundreds of thousands of people living now in the street, living in these plastic makeshift (tents), sleeping on the concrete," Lazzarini told journalists in Jerusalem.

US re-designates Yemen's Huthis as 'terrorist' entity

WASHINGTON (AFP) – The United States said Wednesday that it will put Yemen's Huthis back on a list of "terrorist" entities, but the announcement failed to deter the Iran-backed rebels, who responded by attacking a US-owned ship.

The Huthis have already faced multiple rounds of air strikes in response to their targeting of merchant vessels in the Red Sea, and vowed after the designation announcement that they would continue attacks they say are in support of Palestinians in Gaza, where Israel is battling the militant group Hamas.

"The Department of State today is announcing the designation of Ansarallah, commonly referred to as the Huthis, as a Specially Designated Global Terrorist group, effective 30 days from today," Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement.

Israeli army kills 10 in West Bank

TULKAREM (Palestinian Territories) (AFP) – Israeli forces killed 10 people in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, the Palestinian health ministry and the Israeli army said, as violence in the territory sees no let-up.

Five people were killed inside Tulkarem refugee camp, the ministry said.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society and an official at the camp said Israeli strikes had killed multiple people.

"The camp is besieged by aircraft and heavy numbers of the Israeli army, and tanks," Faisal Salama told AFP.

Israel ramps up attacks on Khan Younis as aid for Gaza arrives in Egypt

GAZA (Agencies) - Israel has increased attacks on Khan Younis in southern Gaza and sent tanks westwards, prompting accusations from Jordan that its field hospital in the city had been badly damaged by nearby shelling.

The Jordanian army said on Wednesday that it held Israel responsible for a “flagrant breach of international law” due to the damage to the facility.

Elsewhere in the city, people at and around Nasser Hospital were forced to flee as Israeli tanks approached the district overnight following a statement from the Israeli army that it had come under fire in the area.
