Palestine Football Association calls for FIFA to address Israeli violence at games

The Palestine Football Association (PFA) has written a letter to FIFA President Gianni Infantino expressing “grave concern over a disturbing incident of racism and violence within the Israeli football league,” Al Jazeera reports.

The association said there exists “a systemic issue of anti-Palestinian, anti-Arab and Islamophobic racism that has been persistently overlooked by the Israeli Football Association”.

Scabies spreading in Israeli prisons, say Palestinian prisoner organisations

The Israeli Prison Service (IPS) in the Ramon and Nafha prisons told lawyers that scheduled visits were cancelled for quarantine reasons due to the spread of scabies among the prisoners on a large scale, the Palestinian Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) said, Al Jazeera reports.

The two organisations explained that scabies had spread widely among the detainees in several prisons, specifically in Naqab, Megiddo, Nafha and Rimon, due to harsh measures imposed by the IPS on the prisoners after October 7.

Saudi company denies US reports about Houthi attack on its ship in Red Sea

A Saudi maritime shipping company denied US reports that one of its ships was attacked by Yemen’s Houthi group in the Red Sea, Anadolu reports.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said Monday that the Houthis attacked two crude oil-laden tankers — the Panama- flagged/owned, Greek-operated MV Blue Lagoon I and the Saudi-flagged, owned and operated MV Amjad — with two ballistic missiles.

“We unequivocally confirm that Amjad was not targeted and suffered no injuries or damage,” the Saudi National Shipping Company (Bahri) said in a statement.

UNSC set to discuss on Wednesday plight of Israeli captives

Danny Danon, Israel’s envoy to the UN, said the Security Council will convene a meeting on Wednesday to hold an official discussion on Israeli captives for the first time.

“It is a disgrace that it has taken the Council 11 months and the brutal execution of six hostages by Hamas terrorists to finally convene this discussion,” he wrote in a post on X.

Danon said the UNSC should unequivocally condemn Hamas’s actions and “demand the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages”.

Israeli forces arrested nearly two dozen in occupied West Bank

According to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Club, Israeli forces have arrested 22 people, including former prisoners, across the occupied West Bank since last evening.

UN diplomat faces backlash for skirting the real issues

Tor Wennesland, the UN special coordinator for the Middle East peace process, posted the statement on X in which he condemned the “horrifying civilian death toll” and the “tragic killing of six hostages” but did not name Israel as the perpetrator.

“Really, Tor? Almost a year in, and you still speak of ‘conflict’, with not a whisper about Israel’s genocide in Palestine? You condemn the ‘death toll’ in Gaza but don’t utter the name of the victims (say it, Tor, ‘Palestinians’), or the name of the killers (say it, Tor, ‘Israel’),” said Craig Mokhiber, a former top UN official.

Mouin Rabbani, a co-editor of Jadaliyya and non-resident fellow at the Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies posted a response on X in which he said: “What’s the point of retaining a UN diplomat on the payroll who, visiting Gaza for the first time in months, cannot muster the courage to even mention Israel by name.”

Gallant claims quick control of Philadelphi Corridor: Monitors

Israel could re-establish control over the Philadelphi Corridor within hours if necessary following a withdrawal from Gaza, Israel’s Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said in remarks critical of the Israeli prime minister’s stance that there be no withdrawal from the corridor, war monitors report.

Israel’s refusal to pull back from the corridor along Gaza’s southern border with Egypt is a major obstacle to a ceasefire deal being reached.

According to the US think tanks Institute for the Study of War (ISW) and Critical Threats Project (CTP), Gallant in a private cabinet meeting criticised the backing Netanyahu received from the security cabinet, arguing that Israel could “retake the corridor in eight hours if it withdrew”.

Netanyahu has described the corridor as a Hamas “oxygen pipe”, which was vital for the Palestinian group and which necessitated Israel’s continued military control over the area.

Hamas has long said there will be no ceasefire without a full withdrawal from Gaza.

Netanyahu 'stands firm' ignoring Israelis protest for a ceasefire

Tens of thousands of Israelis demonstrate against Prime Minister Netanyahu's government, demanding a ceasefire deal and the release of captives held in Gaza.

However, Netanyahu says he “will not give in to pressure.”

LONDON (AFP) – Britain said Monday it would suspend some arms exports to Israel, citing a "clear risk" that they could be used in a serious breach of international humanitarian law.

Israel's defence minister Yoav Gallant said he was "deeply disheartened" to hear of the sanctions but rights groups said the suspensions did not go far enough.
