Palestinian rescuers recover bodies of four killed in Nuseirat

Footage shared by the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) shows its members recovering bodies of the victims of one of Israel’s latest attacks on the Nuseirat camp.

In the footage, the PRCS rescuers take the bodies of several people killed, wrapped in white shrouds, to a hospital to be prepared for burial.

The death toll from this attack at this time is 40, the Gaza Government Media Office told Reuters.

Hamas condemns killing of civilians in Nuseirat

Hamas has condemned the “massacre” committed by Israeli forces against civilians at an UNRWA school in Nuseirat in the central Gaza Strip, and said that it was a premeditated crime.

Gaza Health Ministry: Thousands barred from receiving treatment outside Strip

The ministry says in a statement that the number of sick and wounded Palestinians who need to leave the Gaza Strip for treatment has reached 25,000 but since May 12, about the time Israel seized the Rafah border crossing with Egypt and it closed, “no sick or wounded person has been able to leave the Gaza Strip”.

Only 4,895 people were able to leave when the Rafah crossing was open, the ministry added.

“This exposes the lives of thousands to avoidable complications and death, and these are cases that can be treated and saved if they were allowed to go to specialized centres outside the Gaza Strip,” the statement said.

Death toll from Nuseirat school strike rises to 40

There are now 40 people who have been killed in the Israeli air attack on a UN-run school in Nuseirat, the director of Gaza’s Government Media Office tells Reuters.

Dozens more people are wounded and receiving treatment at Deir el-Balah’s overcrowded Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, which is now three times over its capacity.

UNRWA sounds alarm on disease danger in Gaza

The UN’s agency for Palestinian refugees says as summer’s heat takes hold in the Gaza Strip and a lack of clean water persists, “there is a real concern that cholera may become prevalent”.

This would contribute to “further deteriorating inhumane living conditions” in the Strip, the agency said in an X post.

UNRWA reiterated its call for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Gantz tells mayors in northern Israel ‘be ready for tougher days’, possibly war: Report

War cabinet minister Benny Gantz has travelled to northern Israel after a spate of bloody Hezbollah rocket attacks there and warned of “tougher days” ahead, reports Israel’s Channel 12.

According to the report, Gantz met with the mayors of several northern towns close to the line of contact and told them: “Don’t complain about the present, because the future could be more problematic.”

“Get ready for tougher fights, get ready for tougher days here, it can get us to war,” Gantz said.

Yesterday, Hezbollah fired a series of drones at the Israeli town of Hurfeish, killing one soldier and injuring at least seven people. The Israeli military said it failed to sound sirens ordering people to shelters.

Only 1 fully functional health centre in Rafah area: WHO chief

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus says on X that NGO International Medical Corps “has moved its 160-bed field hospital from Rafah al-Mawasi to its existing facility in Deir el-Balah”.

This, he said, leaves the Red Cross field hospital in al-Mawasi, adjacent to Rafah on Gaza’s coast, as the only fully functioning healthcare facility in the area.

The UAE’s field hospital in Rafah continues to provide services, he said, but due to ongoing hostilities, it is becoming increasingly difficult to reach.

“Insecurity and ongoing closure of the Rafah crossing continue to compromise our ability to get supplies and staff into and around Gaza to keep health services – a life line for Gazans – functional,” he said.

He also reiterated calls for a ceasefire.

Israel says jets strike school containing Hamas compound, Gaza media say 27 killed

CAIRO/JERUSALEM, June 6 (Reuters) - Israel targeted a Gaza school on Thursday that it said contained a Hamas compound, killing fighters involved in the Oct. 7 attack that sparked the eight-month war, but Gaza media said the strike killed at least 27 people seeking shelter.

Ismail Al-Thawabta, the director of the Hamas-run government media office, rejected Israel's claims that the U.N. school in Nuseirat, in central Gaza, had hidden a Hamas command post.

"The occupation uses lying to the public opinion through false fabricated stories to justify the brutal crime it conducted against dozens of displaced people," Thawabta told Reuters.

Colombia calls for curbs on coal sales to Israel: Report

Colombia’s Ministry of Trade has called for restrictions on sales of coal to Israel, Bloomberg News reports, citing an internal document and an anonymous source with close knowledge of the issue.

The Colombian government has been among the world’s most vocal critics of Israel’s war on Gaza. In May, it announced plans to sever ties with Israel, with President Gustavo Petro calling Netanyahu “genocidal”.

Colombia’s president then ordered the opening of an embassy in the occupied West Bank city of Ramallah, the latest in a flurry of diplomatic moves by the country to upgrade ties with Palestine.

Israeli air strike, tank fire kill 3 Palestinians ‘crossing’ Gaza fence

The Israeli military says it shot dead three Palestinians who attempted to cross the fence from the Gaza Strip into Israel, in the Rafah area.

Two men were killed in an air raid, while a third one was killed in tank fire after they fired at Israeli soldiers monitoring the border area, the Israeli military said in a post on X.

The Israeli military bombed a UN school shelter

The Israeli military has confirmed that it bombed a UN school shelter in what appears to be the same attack that has killed at least 29 people in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

Israel’s military said its fighter jets attacked a UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) school that was being used by the “terrorist organisation Hamas”.

“The terrorists directed terror from the area of ??the school, using it as a civilian location and shelter. In the attack, terrorists were eliminated who were planning to carry out attacks and to promote terrorism against our forces in the immediate time frame,” the Israeli military said in a post on X.

The military added that “many steps were taken to reduce the chance of harm to those not involved”.

Earlier we reported that many women and children had been killed after an Israeli military strike on a school, which was housing thousands of displaced Palestinians in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza.

Israel ‘flag day’ – Ultra-nationalist Israelis hold march

Ultra-nationalist Israelis marched through occupied East Jerusalem on Wednesday as part of their so-called “flag day” celebrations.

The event marks Israel’s illegal occupation of the area after the 1967 war.

Participants were heard chanting “Death to Arabs” as they marched through a Palestinian area of the city, while a Palestinian journalist was attacked by Israeli marchers.

Israeli forces carry out widespread arrests across the occupied West Bank

The Israeli military has arrested eight Palestinians during their storming of the occupied West Bank city of Qalqilya, the Wafa news agency reports.

Local media is reporting that among the detained are the father and mother of a man wanted by Israel, with the Israeli military reportedly arresting the couple as a way to pressure their son to surrender himself.

Israeli forces have also arrested three men from the nearby town of Azzun, while two men have been arrested from Kafr Thulth, according to Wafa.

Four Palestinians were arrested during an Israeli military raid on the town of Madama, south of Nablus, while a university student was arrested during a raid on the town of Deir Jarir, east of Ramallah.

Israeli raids have been reported in several locations across the occupied West Bank. They include:

The city of Nablus
The city of Hebron
The town of Bidya, west of Salfit
The towns of Kafr Laqif, Seneria and Hableh

OIC condemns ‘provocative’ Jerusalem day march

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has issued a statement strongly condemning Israeli authorities for allowing a “provocative march through the Old City in occupied Jerusalem”.

The march reflected Israel’s illegal attempts to “[undermine] the historical and legal status quo of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, especially Al-Aqsa Mosque,” the statement added.

Thousands of Israelis joined the march through occupied East Jerusalem, with some attacking Palestinians and shouting racist slogans, on the date marking Israel’s occupation of the city in 1967.

Aid groups have described an “insane escalation of violence” in Gaza, with at least 70 bodies and more than 300 wounded arriving at the Al-Aqsa Hospital in the past 24 hours alone.

UN agencies warn more than one million people in Gaza could experience the highest level of starvation by the middle of next month if hostilities continue.

Israel bombs Gaza as mediators discuss truce-hostage plan

BUREIJ (Palestinian Territories) (AFP) – Israel's military pounded central Gaza with heavy air strikes on Wednesday as international talks to secure a truce and hostage release deal resumed.
