Summary Family Court Judge Zahid Bashir issued the khula decree in favour of Mehnaz following arguments presented by her lawyer, Khadija Siddiqui
LAHORE (Dunya News) - Renowned Pakistani actor Moammar Rana and his wife, Mehnaz, have ended their nearly 28-year marriage after a family court in Lahore granted her khula (judicial divorce), bringing an end to one of the film industry's widely recognised relationships.
Family Court Judge Zahid Bashir issued the khula decree in favour of Mehnaz following arguments presented by her lawyer, Khadija Siddiqui.
The couple married on October 24, 1998, when Rana was at the peak of his acting career, and have two daughters together.
Mehnaz had long been supportive of her husband's professional journey and frequently accompanied him at film-related events.
According to the divorce petition, Mehnaz alleged that Rana physically assaulted her and verbally abused her after consuming alcohol.

She further claimed that he repeatedly used abusive language in front of their daughters, causing them emotional distress.
The petition also alleged that the actor failed to meet household expenses and did not improve his behaviour despite repeated interventions by family members.
Mehnaz told the court that she could no longer continue living with her husband and sought dissolution of the marriage through khula. The court subsequently granted her request.
The development comes amid controversies surrounding Rana in recent years, including reports of alcohol-related incidents and professional difficulties.
In an earlier interview, the actor reportedly disclosed that he had undergone rehabilitation for alcohol addiction and acknowledged that his marriage was facing serious difficulties.
The court's decision marks the end of the couple's marriage after almost three decades together.
