Summary Quraishi revisited his earlier remarks opposing the notion that a married daughter should return to her parents’ home only after her death
(Web Desk) - Pakistani actor Faysal Quraishi believes parents should continue to support their children after marriage, stressing that sons and daughters deserve equal importance and protection.
Speaking on a private TV channel show, Quraishi revisited his earlier remarks opposing the notion that a married daughter should return to her parents’ home only after her death.
The actor criticised parents who believe their daughters can return home only for their funerals, questioning why they would abandon their children when they needed support.
“Is she not your child?” Quraishi asked, adding that parents who had raised their daughters should stand by them, particularly when they faced violence or abuse.
He questioned how parents could allow their daughters to suffer mistreatment without intervening, emphasising that their responsibility did not end with marriage.
Quraishi also observed that attitudes towards parental support were gradually changing, particularly in the entertainment industry, where television dramas increasingly portrayed fathers who defended and supported their daughters.
He recalled watching a drama featuring Shamyl Khan as a supportive father to Mawra Hocane, referring to their relationship as an example of the kind of bond he appreciated. He was likely referring to the drama Jafaa, which explored domestic violence.
“Whether you have a son or a daughter, they’re equally important,” the actor said, emphasising that parental support could discourage others from harming their children.
Quraishi also revealed that his upcoming film Mango Jutt includes a dialogue conveying a similar message. In the film, he tells his co-star Hareem Farooq that he will be there to support her whenever she turns around to look for someone standing behind her.
