LAHORE (Web Desk) - Four years after taking the world by storm, ‘Pasoori’ has reached another major milestone, becoming the first Pakistani-made music video to cross 1 billion views on YouTube.

Released by Coke Studio in February 2022, the Ali Sethi and Shae Gill collaboration quickly evolved from a local hit into a global phenomenon.

Coke Studio announced the milestone on Instagram, thanking listeners who had streamed, sung and shared the song over the years.

Produced by Xulfi and Abdullah Siddiqui, “Pasoori” has remained one of Pakistan’s biggest musical exports.

The track was the country’s most-streamed Pakistani song on Spotify in 2022 and continues to dominate the streaming platform, with the song approaching 405 million streams for Sethi and Gill combined.

Its international reach has been particularly striking.

More than 90 per cent of its YouTube views have reportedly come from outside Pakistan, with the official video watched across more than 60 countries.

The song also featured on the soundtrack of Ms. Marvel, further introducing its distinctive sound and Pakistani cultural influences to international audiences.

“Pasoori” has since inspired covers across Pakistan, India and beyond, while a Coke Studio Africa remix brought together Sethi with Nigerian artists Marwan Moussa and Reekado Banks.

The billion-view milestone cements “Pasoori” as more than a viral hit—it stands as a landmark moment for Pakistani music on the global stage.
