During the show, he shared the stage with globally acclaimed sitar virtuoso Anoushka Shankar and renowned tabla maestro Bakram Ghosh. The 20-minute musical performance quickly went viral on social media.

Singh admitted feeling nervous during his first public appearance post-retirement, but the audience’s enthusiastic response helped him quickly overcome his hesitation.

The performance featured the iconic Bengali composition “Maya Bhora Raat”, originally arranged by music legend Pandit Ravi Shankar. Singh, Shankar, and Ghosh delivered the piece with remarkable synergy, captivating the audience throughout.

A viral video from the event shows Singh humbly addressing the crowd when invited on stage, saying, “I am very nervous,” and thanking Anoushka Shankar for the invitation.

Expressing her thoughts on Instagram, Shankar described the moment as “very special,” praising Singh for bringing her father’s Bengali composition to life in such an unforgettable way.

Notably, Arijit Singh had announced his retirement from playback singing on January 27, 2026, expressing gratitude to fans for their years of support and calling his musical journey “extraordinary.” He added that the decision came after long and careful consideration.
