(Web Desk) - After months of delays, Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor’s much-anticipated film Abir Gulaal has finally received a new release date and it is sooner than expected.

Originally set to hit cinemas on April 22, 2025, the romantic comedy faced an unexpected postponement. The film will now release worldwide on August 29, 2025. However, it will not be released in India, due to the country’s ongoing ban on Pakistani artists.

This release strategy mirrors that of Sardaar Ji 3, which also skipped Indian theaters because of similar political sensitivities.

Despite criticism, particularly around the casting of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, Sardaar Ji 3 became a massive hit overseas, eventually earning the title of highest-grossing Indian Punjabi film abroad.

Taking inspiration from that success, the makers of Abir Gulaal aim to follow a similar international release model, targeting global audiences while bypassing the Indian market.

According to recent reports, the film’s title may also undergo a slight change before release, from Abir Gulaal to Aabeer Gulaal, although this has yet to be officially confirmed.

The film marks Fawad Khan’s return to Bollywood after nine years, making it one of the most awaited cross-border projects in recent memory. The global buzz is building fast as the countdown to August 29, 2025, begins.
