He said prison made him a changed man
(Web Desk) - Popular TikTok prankster Mizzy has apologised and pledged to turn his life around after spending six weeks in prison for a series of “wild and reckless” videos.
Bacari-Bronze O’Garro, known to many as Mizzy online, went viral on TikTok last year after posting several stunts, such as breaking into people’s homes, ripping up a library book and grabbing an elderly woman’s dog, and that left users stunned.
O’Garro, 19, was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison in November 2023 after he continued to film people without their consent, despite having received a prior court order that barred him from doing so, as reported by The Standard.
The former TikToker was released after six weeks in prison and said that his time behind bars has left him a changed man.
"I acknowledge that [my actions] were wrong, and they shouldn't be done. It sunk in that ‘ah, man's actually doing crazy stuff.’ When I watched the [videos] back, I've been like 'Oh that's not very nice is it?'" O’Garro told London Live.
"I've learned a lot, but mainly to be empathetic. If I had empathy from the start, then none of this would really have happened. I would have been like 'This is bad, what am I doing?'"
In a previous interview with Piers Morgan Uncensored, O'Garro brushed off the backlash at the time, saying "people are getting upset about something that didn't happen to them."
The father of one said that he wanted to apologize to the people he pranked, saying that he was just trying to have fun but it got “out of hand.”
After being raised by a single mother and surrounded by “A lot of friends who do crime,” O’Garro told London Live that he saw TikTok as a way to make his situation better. But eventually, he said he did not care what his videos were so long as they went viral.
Now, O’Garro said that he does not even consider his videos as pranks, “They’re more crimes,” he told London Live. He added, "At the end of the day, that's all my past now and I'm trying to change better for the future."
The 19-year-old said that he hopes to get back on TikTok one day and make content again, but for now, he plans to go to college, get a job, and possibly explore acting and modeling as he is banned from posting videos on social media for another two years.
