Angelina Jolie critcises Israeli Defence Forces for massacring Gazans
(Web Desk) - Actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie has released a statement in response to the Israeli-Hamas conflict, which has claimed the lives of over 8,000 Palestinians and Gazans in the West Bank and over 1,400 Israelis.
She started off by saying, "I too am praying for the immediate, safe return of every hostage, and for the families who carry the unimaginable pain of a loved one's murder." However, she eventually changed her mind and remarked, "The innocent lives lost in Gaza cannot justify the terrorist attacks by Hamas in Israel."
Jolie continued by writing that the population of Gaza “has nowhere to go, no access to food or water, no possibility of evacuation, and not even the basic human right to cross a border to seek refuge.”
She wrote, “The few aid trucks that are entering are a fraction of what is needed (and was delivered daily before the conflict), and the bombings are causing desperate new humanitarian needs daily. The denial of aid, fuel and water is collectively punishing a people.”
With a last message to her fans, Jolie said, "Anything that can prevent civilian casualties and save lives must be done."
She said she has contributed to medical aid efforts, just like many other and decided to follow Doctors Without Borders' reporting closely and to donate to their cause.
