Arooj Aftab to turn heads with swashbuckling performance at Grammys
(Web Desk) – Pakistani melodious Grammy Award winner and nominee Arooj Aftab is all set to make a come back this year at the Grammy’s as a performer.
Ms Aftab was overwhelmed to be nominated and also pleased to be performing at the prestigious awards. Taking to Instagram, she wrote “I simply cannot wait to play my Grammy-nominated jam Udhero Na featuring Anoushka Shankar with her live for you at the Grammys.”
She posted a poster of her performance at the Grammys with the time and date mentioned, she also requested her fans to stream the live show and pour in love for their favourite star on February 5 at 12:30pm as per Pakistan’s Standard Time (PST). It can be streamed from YouTube and the official site of Grammys as well.
Arooj has been nominated again in the category of “Best Global Music Performance” for her mesmerizing song “Udhero Na”. Other singers to compete Ms Aftab’s song in the mentioned category will be Matt B and Eddy Kenzo for “Gimme Love,” Burna Boy for “Last last,” Rocky Dawuni and Blvk H3ro for “Neva Bow Down,” and Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode for “Bayethe.”
The “Mohabbat” singer expressed her joy by nodding and saying “Oh my God! Udhero Na has been nominated for a Grammy.” She also congratulated Anoushka Shankar, Maeve Gilchrist and Nadje Noordhuis for the nomination of the song.
The Grammy winner got emotional while recalling how her first song was performed when she was only 15 by four “Badass Women”. She said “So, I’m very emotional and very glad and I’m really, really, just, I don’t even know. I’m in this hall of a ship, we’re about to perform in about 20 minutes or so. I don’t know how I’m going to do that but this is great. So, thank you.”
