Renowned actress Naila Jaffery passes away after protracted illness
She was suffering from cancer since 2016.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Renowned TV actress Naila Jaffery has passed away after a protracted illness in Karachi on Saturday.
She was suffering from cancer since 2016.
She will be laid to rest after Isha prayers at the Army graveyard at Chanesar Goth. Atif Jaffery, Naila Jaffery’s brother, said his sister’s funeral prayers will be offered later today at Defense Phase II, and she will be buried at the Army Cemetery on Kala Pul.
The actress was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in its third stage, but she recovered and relocated to Pakistan’s northern areas, where she stayed for two to three years.
Jaffery had requested channels to pay her royalties for rerunning her dramas multiple times in a video shared straight from the hospital by director Furqan T Siddiqui after the treatment exhausting her financial resources along with her physical and mental health.
In response to her impassioned appeal, Sindh s Minister for Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Sardar Shah offered on behalf of the government to bear the expenses of her treatment. She reportedly turned down the offer.
In a condolence message, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain expressed his deep sorrow over the sad demise of the legendary TV actress.
Praying mercy for her departed soul, he said that Naila Jafari was a well-known face of Pakistan Television.
