Meesha Shafi case: FIA investigation officer summoned by Lahore High Court
LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Lahore High Court (LHC) has summoned the investigating officer of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in connection with the case between singers Meesha Shafi and Ali Zafar.
According to details, the Lahore High Court heard Meesha Shafi’s plea to dismiss the case of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) cyber crime against her. Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh heard the petition.
Meesha Shafi took the position that Ali Zafar had filed a false case against her and her associates, he has also filed a defamation suit on the same charge.
She posited that a defamation suit and a cyber crime case cannot be tried simultaneously. According to the law, civil and criminal cases cannot be tried at the same time.
Meesha Shafi said that Ali Zafar filed a cyber crime case against her to counter the sexual harassment lawsuit. She opined that Section 20 of the Cyber Crime Act should be declared unconstitutional and the case against her by FIA should be dismissed.
The Lahore High Court, after hearing the petition, has summoned the investigating officer of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) along with the report.
