Rahat Fateh Ali Khan asked by FBR to pay Rs 23.2 million in taxes

LAHORE (Dunya News) – World renowned Pakistani singer Rahat Ali Fateh Ali Khan is once again on the radar of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), which has re-taxed him for keeping secret bank accounts.

According to sources, FBR has ordered Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to pay a tax of Rs 23.2 million under section 122 (5A).

Sources said that the FBR had previously passed an order to impose zero tax after conducting an income tax audit of the singer. Now, the Additional Commissioner has conducted an audit again and imposed new taxes. The Inland Revenue Service (IRS) Intelligence had sent the details of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s bank accounts to the tax office.

The report showed that Rahat Fateh Ali had Rs 90 million in his secret accounts. Following the 2014 audit, he has been given one month to pay his taxes, but if he doesn’t pay up or go into appeal, his accounts would be frozen.
