Shaan's mother, Neelo Begum, passes away aged 80
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Veteran Pakistani actress and Lollywood actor Shaan Shahid’s mother Neelo Begum has passed away at the age of 80.
Shaan announced the news of her demise in a tweet on Saturday. The senior actor wrote, "It is with the saddest of heart I share the departure of my mother as she has gone to her Creator. May Allah bless her.”
Abida Riaz, commonly known by her industry name Neelo Begum, was born Catholic on June 30, 1940 in Bhera Tehsil, Sargodha. At the age of 16, she tried her hand at acting and had since acted in hundreds of films. She got her big break in the film industry when she performed on the song "Aaye mausam, rangilay suhanay" in the film Saat Lakh.
