Pakistan should also produce TV serials like Ertugrul: PM Imran

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The founding team of well-known Turkish drama serial Ertugrul, led by Kamal Tekdin, met with Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz, Chairman Kashmir Committee Shehryar Afridi and personalities from Turkish and Pakistani film industries.

The meeting discussed in detail the proposed television series being created in collaboration between Turkey and Pakistan on the Khilafat Movement.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said on the occasion that Pakistani dramas were known all over the world till the 80’s. The Pakistani film and drama industry needs to work to promote of local culture so that the youth can be made aware of their true culture.

He added that if the Pakistani film and drama industry broadcasts quality local productions, it would not only grow but also provide the young generation an alternative to the superficial and glamorized productions of other nations.

The Prime Minister further said that Muslim rule in the subcontinent was a golden age but unfortunately the youth is unaware of it. He said that attempts should be made to counter propagandists by making films and dramas on this golden age.
