KP govt decides to buy ancestral houses of Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has decided to buy the ancestral houses of legendary Bollywood actors Raj Kapoor and Dilip Kumar to preserve the historic buildings by converting them into museum.

As per notification, it was stated, “ The Directorate of Archaeology and Museums intends to declare the houses as a ‘protected antiquity’ under the Antiquities Act aiming at to safeguard for posterity and promote cultural tourism.

“Hence, land in question either may please be transferred in case of state land or acquired under the Land Acquisition Act on compulsory ground basis if has private owners ship,” it further read.

It is to be mentioned here that Kapoor Haveli, constructed between 1918 and 1922 by Raj Kapoor’s grandfather Dewan Basheswarnath Kapoor, is located in the Qissa Khwani Bazar.

On the other hand, Dilip Kumar’s over 100-year-old ancestral house is also situation in the same locality. This house was declared as national heritage in 2014.
