Mehiwsh Hayat attends launch of new initiatives for girl child rights

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Pakistani actress and receiver of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz Mehwish Hayat had been appointed as goodwill ambassador for girl child’ rights on ‘International Day of the Girl Child’.

Lok Virsa collaborating with European Union held a ceremony in Islamabad, Mehwish Hayat along with Federal Minister of Human Rights Shireen Mazari shared the panel for new initiatives for the girl child. She expressed, “Pleasure to be at the launch of the Ministry of Human Rights’ new initiatives for the girl child and share the panel with some really inspirational and distinguished women like Hon Minster Shireen Mazari, Ms Rabiya Javeri Agha, Secretary Ministry Human Rights, Ms Samar Minallah Khan, Anthropologist and HE EU Ambassador, Androulla Kaminara”.

She also talked about the creative ways such as ‘Truck Art’ campaign to disseminate information of awareness on girl child abuse across the country. She said, “I was really impressed to see how the project is using innovative ways like truck art to get the message out. There is so much that needs to be done and I really am looking forward to being very proactive and doing a lot more for this cause in my role as goodwill ambassador”.

On Oct. 11, the actress took to the social media and shared the new. She said, “This is something close to me and I look forward to actively raising awareness of the issues to be addressed."

Let’s give girls the better future they deserve, she added.
