British media reports that "Bond 25" actor Lashana Lynch who plays  Nomi  will be the next 007 spy, after Daniel Craig s James Bond reportedly leaves M16 in the 25th film in the franchise.

The British actress recently played Captain Marvel s best friend,  Maria Rambeau , in "Captain Marvel", a female fighter pilot - something Lynch told Reuters was also "never represented in cinema".

At time of publication Reuters was unable to verify the UK media reports through Eon Productions or United Artists Releasing.

Since "Bond 25" began production in April this year, Craig underwent surgery on his ankle after injuring it on set. Producers also revealed a crew member was injured on the set at Pinewood Studios during the filming of a controlled explosion.

The film is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, who took over the production after "Slumdog Millionaire" director Danny Boyle left. Writer Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the creator and star of hit British TV shows "Fleabag" and "Killing Eve" was also brought on board to refine the screenplay.

"Bond 25" is set to be released on April 8 in the United States.
