(REUTERS) - A statue of film star Marilyn Monroe was stolen from a public artwork in Los Angeles on Monday (June 17).
The statue sat at the perch of the Ladies of Hollywood Gazebo. Police spoke to a witness who saw someone climb the gazebo and remove the figure with a saw, according to local media.
Dedicated in 1994, the installation is meant to symbolize diversity in Hollywood; it features sculptures of movie icons Dorothy Dandridge, Anna May Wong, Dolores Del Rio, and Mae West at its base.
