Indian govt denies honorary doctorate to Shah Rukh Khan
An honorary doctorate was requested by the Jamia Millia Islamia for their alumni
(Web Desk)- After being labelled a traitor by Indian extremists in wake of the Pulwama attack, the king of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan has been denied by the Indian govt an honorary doctorate requested by the Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) for their alumni.

According to media reports, a request was sent to the Human Resource Development (HRD) Ministry by the university seeking an honorary doctorate for Shah Rukh Khan.
HRD responded that the Bollywood star cannot be awarded another honorary degree as he had already received the honorary doctorate from Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANNU) in 2016.

HRD further explained that no law prohibits giving multiple honorary doctorates to the same individual but such a practice is discouraged.
Shah Rukh Khan who studied in the Mass Com program of the institute from 1988-90 failed to complete the degree on account of shortage of attendance.
Shah Rukh Khan was also awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Edinburgh in 2015.
