(Dunya News) – Qazi Wajid s sad demise has left the entire nation in mourning, but his memorable characters on television will remain alive forever in the hearts and minds of people.
Wajid passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest in Karachi on Sunday. He was 87 years old.
Born on May 26, 1930 in Lahore, he completed his early education there, and shifted to USA for a while.
The veteran actor started his career from Radio Pakistan but after 25 years switched to television in 1966 following the launch of PTV.
He had been associated with the media for nearly 48 years as a radio, TV and theatre artist. He had also worked in films.

Wajid has worked in many memorable roles on television. Legend actors of his stature are regarded as one of the top leading actors of Pakistani television.
The versatile actor received several awards throughout his career, including the Pride of Performance Award.
Dramas like ‘Khuda ki Basti’, ‘Taleem-e-Balighaan’, ‘Dhoop Kinaray’, ‘Tanhaniya’ became unforgettable because of his roles.
Wajid will also be remembered for his remarkable roles in classic dramas ‘Chaand Grehain’, ‘Hawaien’, ‘Nangey Paaon’, and ‘Barey Barey Dahi Barey’.
From comedy to serious roles, Wajid’s dialogue delivery and his passion to immerse himself entirely into his characters became the essence of these dramas.
Not only on television and radio did he mesmerise his fans but he will be remembered for his work in theatre as well.
