(Web Desk) - The famous British rock band Coldplay recently played a tribute to the late Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington, who had died of suspected suicide last month, when its co-founder and lead singer Chris Martin performed a solo piano version of the Linkin Park hit Crawling.
According to the Guardian the song was performed by Chris Martin at the New Jersey concert on the opening date of Coldplay’s North American tour. As he restarted the song after a rocky beginning Martian stated that he knew that the song was going to end up on YouTube which is why he wanted to do it right and in a respectful manner. He also added that the tribute was for “everybody who misses someone you know. This is for our whole community of musicians.”
The song tribute was well received and Mike Shinoda, Linkin Park rapper, wrote that the performance “sounded beautiful” while posting a video of it.
This is not the first time that Coldplay has played tribute to other artists. In 2016 the band had honored Viola Beach, a young British band whose members had all died in a tragic car accident in Sweden earlier in the year, by performing a cover of Boys That Sing. In 2012 Coldplay had paid tribute to the death of Beastie Boys’s rapper Adam Yauch by performing a piano ballad version of the Beastie Boys’ (You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!).
Chester Bennington had been 41 when he had killed himself on 20th July at his home in Palos Verdes, California. The singer had suffered during his life from problems such as substance abuse and depression.
