Why Vinod Khanna hid his illness for six years?
A lot of speculation about his absence from important events.
MUMBAI (Daily Dunya) - Bollywood veteran actor Vinod Khanna who passed away on Thursday morning from advanced bladder carcinoma hid his illness for at least six years.
In February this year, the actor revealed in a press conference in Gurdaspur that he was suffering from cancer. His statement came after a lot of speculation about his absence from important events.
Khanna said he was speaking about his long absence as he is a politician and active in public life. “I would not have revealed my illness if I was not a politician. I got to know that I had cancer six years ago. At that time, my daughter was giving an important school exam and needed her parents support and I kept my illness secret from everyone due to this,” he said while answering media questions.
The actor-politician said that the doctors told him that the illness was 80% percent cured after which he felt that the battle against cancer was won.
“I had used various alternative medicine methodologies in the fight against cancer and in the last one year, I had to travel to Germany a number of times in this regard. I have not been through heavy chemotherapy but had to undergo surgery,” he said.
