LAHORE (Dunya News) - Renowned classical singer Ustad Fateh Ali Khan passed away after a protracted illness in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The 82-year-old singer was suffering from a lungs disease and was under treatment from the past 10 days in PIMS Hospital.
Son of Ustad Akhtar Hussain, he was born in 1935 in classical music’s famous family Patiala.
He got fame from his pair with elder brother Ustad Amanat Ali Khan.
He received the President s Pride of Performance in 1969 and Sitara-i-Imtiaz for his excellent contribution to music.
After the death of Amanat Ali Khan in1974, he was joined first by his younger brother Hamid Ali Khan and then by his nephew Asad Amanat Khan.
He has left behind two sons, Rustom Fateh Ali Khan and Paras Ali Khan.
He will be buried in Lahore’s Momanpura graveyard.
Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb has expressed condolence over the demise of Ustad Fateh Ali Khan.
She also paid tributes to his services in the field of music.
