Summary Junaid remained an active member of Vital Signs band for a number of years and achieved great fame

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Junaid Jamshed is regarded as one of the most significant individuals in the Pakistani music industry. Born in Karachi on September 3, 1964, Jamshed rose to fame in the 80s and was the lead singer of the band Vital Signs for a number of years until bidding farewell to the music industry all of a sudden and began to sing Hamds and Naats.

Junaid’s father served in the air force. Though he also wanted to follow his father’s footsteps, Junaid was unable to fulfill his dream of becoming a fighter pilot because of his weak eyesight. He was admitted in the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) in Lahore and completed his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from in 1990. During his university life, he began performing as a vocalist for UET’s Nuts and Bolts music band since singing was one of his hobbies.

Dil Dil Pakistan


He performed in various universities before Vital Signs’ Rohail Hyatt acknowledged his singing talent and selected him as the band’s leading vocalist. Jamshed gained acclamation after his national song ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ was released in 1987 whereas the band’s first ever album, Vital Signs 1, surfaced a couple of years later and included a total of 12 songs, including: Ye Shaam, Chehra and Do Pal Ka Jeevan.


Aitebaar Bhi


The second album, Vital Signs 2, was released in 1991 though the band went through a turbulent period between the release of the first and second albums as they decided to split up. This album also included twelve songs, some famous ones are: Sanwali Saloni, Naraz and Hum Rahe Rahee. Music composer Shoaib Mansoor also played an important part in lifting Jamshed’s career. The third album, Aitebar, was released in 1993 whereas the fourth and final album of Vital Signs, Hum Tum, was released in 1995 after which the band split.


Us Rah Par


Jamshed worked on his solo albums after bidding farewell to Vital Signs. Between 1994 and 2001, Jamshed released four solo albums all of which received mixed reaction from the audience. However, in 2004 his life took a 360 degree turn when he decided to say goodbye to the world of music and devoted himself towards Islam. He also announced to launch a clothing brand, J., primarily dealing with selling kurta shalwars. His brand rose gradually and outlets were opened in many cities.


Ankhon Ko Ankhon Nay


He was awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz in 2007. Jamshed has sung a number of naats, hamds and has been travelling in many parts of the world spreading the message of Islam and has released almost nine albums related to nasheeds. He also hosts Ramazan transmission during the holy month at private television channel.
