Zayn Malik launches clothing line featuring Urdu script

NEW YORK (Web Desk) - Former One Direction heartthrob Zayn Malik while complementing his South Asian roots has launched his Urdu-inspired fashion line.
“Everything was created with the idea that this is something I would want to wear,” said the 23-year-old British pop star in an interview to Vogue.
“I wanted to approach this as an opportunity to extend my ideas as an artist, and to give fans another facet of who I am.”
The 23-piece offering is available on Zaynmalikstore.com and includes T-Shirts having his image and hoodies which prominently feature his own name and word ‘Mind’ in Urdu language.

“My family is from Pakistan, so having artwork in Urdu has huge significance to me,” said Malik.
Among the collection, the Z-Day shirt is Zayn’s favourite which has been illustrated by Mark Wilkinson of Iron Maiden fame.
“Working with Mark gave me a license to do something exciting conceptually with a lot of color and detail,” said Malik, referencing his favorite shirt, an apocalyptic piece dubbed the “Z-Day” which depicts the singer emerging out of a city engulfed in flames.

“The art we created gives a nod to the vintage rock-band T-shirts but with my own concept.”
