Summary "X-Men: Apocalypse" rolls out in cinemas worldwide from May 18.
LONDON (Reuters) - Jennifer Lawrence and James McAvoy turned out to showcase what could be their final outing as Marvel Comics’ mutant superheros at the global fan screening of "X-Men: Apocalypse" in London on Monday.
Lawrence and McAvoy, along with Michael Fassbender, will reportedly see their contracts end with the release of the final entry in the franchise’s "First Class" trilogy.
Following the box office success of "X-Men: Days of Future Past", which made more than 740 million USD internationally, director Bryan Singer returns with "X-Men: Apocalypse" and a younger supporting cast.
"I mean we punched them a lot, that was kind of the welcome to the group. But yeah, it was very much a wake-up call, it was like, oh you’re old, we have the new cast members coming in," Jennifer Lawrence on new castmates.
Meanwhile McAvoy said he felt proud of his "X-Men" legacy.
"To be the custodian of something that they hold so dear, so preciously to their hearts, it’s fantastic. I was a fan when I was a kid, so if I hadn’t been an actor, if I hadn’t been this successful, I might be standing there. So I feel, I don’t know, I feel really proud to be the guy getting to do it," he said.
