Summary
Oscar winner Angelina Jolie spoke to Somali refugees in the Dadaab refugee camp on the Kenya-Somali border, which is the biggest refugee camp in the world. Jolie, 34, UN goodwill ambassador, was in East Africa to spotlight the plight of Somali refugees and seek aid on their behalf. The Dadaab camp, which was built to house 90,000 people, is now overcrowded with 285,000 Somalian refugees who fled their homeland and sought refuge in Kenya. The experience has changed her outlook on life. I've become a better human being, Jolie said. I've learned the strength of the human spirit. I see different aid workers in camps helping each other from everywhere - people who have come together from all over the world to help. It's changed my view of what is important. I'm not so concerned with things I used to be so concerned with. I feel that [now] I'm of some use to other people in the world, she maintained.
