Actor and superstar Johnny Depp landed in Japan on Saturday (May 12) to the greetings of hundreds of screaming fans as he is in the country to promote his latest film, Dark Shadows.Depps flight was originally scheduled to land early Saturday, but was delayed to later in the day by which time 700 fans had gathered to welcome him to the country and ask for an autograph in the process.Among the fans was one who bore a striking resemblance to the actor himself, and while 46-year-old Kei Shimizu said that he admires Depps style he also likes the stars acting.Hes someone to look up to, someone to respect. Not only his look but also his acting in his movies is just amazing, Shimizu explained.Others also turned up in full costume for the new Dark Shadows movie, in which Depp plays a vampire who is buried only to be dug up in 1972 and then works to bring back the glory to his familys name.I heard that Johnny Depp was coming and so Ive been waiting here since 3am, said 19-year-old Toko Isano.Depp took his time with fans, spending nearly 30 minutes signing autographs, giving handshakes and in some cases even hugs.Im glad I got a signature, said 4-year-old Ruri Inoue said after meeting Depp and getting a hug from him directly.Depp is also scheduled to participate in a red carpet and news conference along with film director Tim Burton during his stay in Japan to promote the film.
