Summary Top designers from Pakistan showcase their collection at ongoing Lifestyle expo in New Delhi.

Ace fashion designers from Pakistan showcased their collection at the fashion show organised during the ongoing Lifestyle expo in New Delhi on Friday (April 13).The Lifestyle exhibition is one of the steps taken by both India and Pakistan to enhance commerce ties between the two countries and open new channels for shipment of goods, as commercial ties between the nuclear-armed rivals begin to bloom.Indian Commerce minister, Anand Sharma and his Pakistani counterpart, Makhdoom Amin Fahim, graced the occasion.Audience got an opportunity to see the unique Pakistani designs, high-end textiles, jewellery and fashion accessories at the show.Sharma said this was an opportunity for the Pakistani designers to showcase their cultural diversity and richness and strengthen the bilateral relations between the neighbours. They are welcome and people in India also get to know about the creativity, their thinking, their fashion and the contribution of the younger Pakistanis. It is a country, which has diversity, it has lot of richness and it was on display and I am very happy that we had a India show in Pakistan there is a Pakistan show in Delhi, which is an indictor of the expressed wish of both the countries to move forward on the roadmap to deepen our engagement, said Sharma. The show saw a good opening, amidst attendance of envoys and dignitaries from both the countries.Fahim said that more interaction between people of both the countries would help them understand each other and would promote peace and harmony.I think its a great effort put together by the government of India and the government of Pakistan and I think there will be more such shows, which will bring the people together. You could see the response today in this auditorium, the way the people welcomed and appreciated the Pakistani designers and the cuts and the fabrics, said Fahim.Despite a combined population of 1.4 billion people and thousands of years of shared history and culture, cross-border trade between India and Pakistan is paltry - a legacy of three wars since their independence from Britain in 1947.Liberalising heavily restricted trade and investment flows has become a driver of peace efforts between the neighbours whose fragile relations were shattered when Pakistani militants attacked the Indian city of Mumbai 2008.The lifestyle expo brings together 100 exhibitors and 650 delegates from Pakistan and exhibiting the best of goods from the neighbouring country. The exhibition would end on Sunday (April 15).
