Students share concerns about transport system

Summary Students of Rawalpindi and Islamabad face a lot of problems in reaching educational institutions.

They complain of shortage of school buses and the public transport system being completely obsolete.Parents say children each day encounter problems on public transport, and increasing fares are also a burden on their budget.“I would suggest that insufficient transport resources expose my child to greater risk,” said Kazim Hussain, a resident of F-7/4. “I would recommend that the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) look into this more closely,” he added.FDE should focus on some of the significant changes in the existing transportation plan. Meager transport resources provided to institutions as compared to the number of students leads to overloading both on local transport and school buses. In most cases, conductors of local buses tell the schoolchildren to sit on roofs of buses to save the seats for other passengers.
