Islamabad, where an ignored school tells a sad tale

(Dunya News) – A school in the suburban area of the federal capital is on the brink of demolition.
The condition of the school sketches a sight of ruin where children are suffering due to damaged walls, broken ceilings and doors that have disappeared from the rooms.
The Phulgran Model School is a state owned primary school devoid of basic needs. The school has not received any attention from the government where live electric wires are exposing children to serious physical harm.

The foundations of the school laid in the 70s now looks more or less like a ruin. Even the numbers of school staff is worrying. Only two teachers cater to all children in the school. And the school’s security guard is not only guarding the school but he’s also their teacher.
Children are forced to sit on broken desks and chairs.
Consequently, in winters, these children often fall sick. Many have even left the school due to its poor maintenance.

Residents are worried of the future of their children who wish to attend school.
