GCU wins 27 awards in debate, essay writing,na'at
The Government College University has secured outstanding position in different academic fields.
As per details, The Government College University Debating Society (GCUDS) has broken its own record by winning 27 awards at the Chief Minister’s Debates, Essay Writing, and Naat & Qirat Competition 2012.GCU speakers earned five positions at provincial level, 10 at division level and 12 at district level contests. Saad-ul-Hassan, president of GCUDS was declared Best Urdu Speaker of Punjab at the postgraduate level and Shoaib Ahmed secured third position in English Postgraduate Debates., Ahmad Ch stood second in English Degree Level Debates, Zalid Ali third in Urdu Degree Level Debates at the provincial level while Muhammad Fahad Anjum was declared second best speaker at English Intermediate Level Debates.GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman congratulated Saad-ul-Hassan, Shoaib Ahmed, Ahmad Chaudhry, Zahid Ali, Ayesha Urooj, Aitazaz Arif, Ammara Shah, Afzaan Muneer, Burhan Ahmed, Mudassir Seemab, Muhammad Fahad Anjum, Hafiz Omair Qasim, Shehzad Khan and Ismail Sherwani for achievements in the debates saying events like this were healthy and proved useful for their character building.The Government College, Lahore was raised to the status of a University in 2002.
