Son of notorious Lyari gangster Rehman Dakait arrested in Karachi with illegal firearms.
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Authorities in Karachi have arrested the son of notorious Lyari-based gangster Rehman Dakait in possession of illegal firearms.
The suspect, identified as Jibran, son of Abdul Rehman Baloch, alias Rehman Dakait, was apprehended in the Kalakot area under the jurisdiction of Kalakot Police Station.
Police recovered two pistols along with rounds of ammunition from Jibran, described as a habitual and professional criminal with a history of arrests in multiple cases. Legal proceedings are ongoing, with further action expected.
According to law enforcement officials, Jibran had previously been arrested in several cases, including possession of drugs and involvement in violent crimes. Police said he had resumed criminal activities after being released on bail in June 2022. His continued engagement in organised crime has raised concerns about the resurgence of gang-related violence in Lyari.
Who was Rehman Dakait?
Rehman Dakait, Jibran’s father, was a notorious figure in Karachi’s Lyari district, leading the Baloch Gang and founding the People’s Aman Committee. His character was recently portrayed in the 2025 Bollywood film Dhurandhar, where Ranveer Singh played his role, drawing renewed attention to the gangster’s violent legacy.
Lyari residents noted that Jibran was one of several children of Rehman Dakait, many of whom have been linked to criminal activity. The police warned that Jibran had been organising a gang and had previously been involved in drug trafficking, kidnapping for ransom, and murder.
The arrest comes years after a similar incident involving another of Rehman Dakait’s sons. Sarban, a son from Rehman’s second wife, was shot dead in a police encounter while allegedly orchestrating gang activities in Lyari. Police said Sarban had been involved in multiple crimes, including murder, kidnapping, and drug trade, continuing the violent path established by his father.
