Rs170 million smuggling haul foiled as Customs nets phones, cars and cigarettes

Pakistan Customs seizes smuggled phones, vehicles, cigarettes and cosmetics worth Rs170 million in coordinated Karachi and KP operations.
KARACHI/PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Pakistan Customs has intensified anti-smuggling operations, successfully intercepting goods worth over Rs170 million across Karachi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Customs Enforcement Karachi seized 564 high-end smuggled mobile phones and a tampered Toyota Land Cruiser during an intelligence-driven operation near the Karachi-Hyderabad Toll Plaza. The vehicle, registration number BF-7199, was found with five concealed compartments containing Google Pixel, Motorola and other assorted phones valued at Rs64 million. Forensic analysis confirmed that the Prado itself was tampered with and had not been cleared for duty.

The seized items, collectively valued at Rs96 million, were confiscated under the Customs Act, 1969, and an FIR has been registered. Investigations are underway to identify the smuggling network behind the operation.

Peshawar operations
In a separate campaign, Pakistan Customs Enforcement Peshawar foiled multiple smuggling attempts across KP, seizing goods worth Rs74.4 million. Non-duty-paid cosmetics valued at Rs2.4 million were recovered, along with two Toyota Vitz and Aqua vehicles worth Rs8 million. A JAC Pickup was also intercepted, carrying 2,000 sleeves of smuggled cigarettes valued at Rs9.5 million.
These coordinated operations highlight the continued vigilance and strict enforcement by Pakistan Customs to combat smuggling and safeguard the national economy from illegal trade.
