A new phenomenon in Karachi's street crime as 70 sacrificial animals stolen

Several incidents of animal theft were reported during last two weeks
KARACHI (Web Desk) - Street crimes and mugging are not new for the residents of Karachi. Earlier, there were incidents of mobile or motorbike snatching on the streets of Karachi.
A new phenomenon came in the street crime saga this time around in Karachi on the eve of Eidul Azha. As many as 70 sacrificial animals were stolen during last couple of weeks in the city of lights.
The stolen animals include both the cows and goats. The social media platforms are filled up with the incidents of animals’ theft in Karachi. Many videos are circulating on social media in which the animal theft can be seen.
A video appeared on the social media in which it can be seen that an alleged robber and his family is beaten up by the residents of Gulshan-e-Iqbal area.
The incident took place on 23rd of June when the man was caught red-handed with his family while stealing the sacrificial animals from a street.
Another similar theft was seen on CCTV camera in the Federal B Area on 26 June. An unidentified man untied a cow from a street and took him away in just 10 seconds as it was seen on CCTV.
On 25 June 25, more than a dozen valuable sacrificial animals were stolen from a cattle farm located near the Super Highway in the Malir Cantonment area by some unidentified thieves.
Malik Shahroze, the owner of cattle farm said that some 10 to 12 armed men barged into his farm early in the morning and attacked a security guard.
The suspects made an employee hostage at gunpoint and stole the precious sacrificial animals, then made their escape in a pickup truck.
According to the owner, the stolen animals were worth Rs10 million to Rs15 million.
Other incidents of cattle theft were reported from the North Karachi, Iqbal Market, Frere, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Orangi Town, Sharea Faisal and Federal B Area police jurisdictions.
The police says that a case of theft of 40 goats in North Karachi was registered at the Sir Syed police station. The FIR of a theft of four cows in Orangi Town on June 17 was registered at the Iqbal Market police station.
