ATC declares DHA Karachi policeman’s murderer ‘proclaimed offender’

KARACHI (Web Desk) – The anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Thursday declared the murderer of Shaheen police force cop Abdul Rehman “proclaimed offender” as he had fled to Sweden.

The court heard the plea against the murder, Khurram Nisar.

The investigation officer told the court that the suspect could not be arrested as he had fled the country, therefore, the court must declare him “proclaimed offender”. The court while giving the nod remarked, “Advertisements must be placed in Urdu, Sindhi, and English language newspapers”.

The court has ordered the investigation officer to submit a report on Jan 16.

Earlier, a DHA resident, purported to be the son of former deputy commissioner, killed a cop after an altercation between the two and fled to Sweden.

According to police, Khurram Nisar came to Karachi from Sweden on November 5. He lives there with his wife and two children. DIG South Irfan Baloch told a local news channel that the cop accompanying Rehman recorded his statement, according to which they saw Nisar forcing a woman to sit in the car near Boat Basin.

The DIG said that Nisar’s home is in Karachi, near the crime scene in DHA Phase 5. After leaving the crime scene, he left the car and fled into another vehicle.

The SSP south told the media that the suspect would be brought back through Interpol.
