ANF seizes over 250 kg drugs, arrests nine
RAWALPINDI (APP): The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) seized over 250 kilogrammes of drugs including 53 heroin-filled capsules, 1,604 litres of prohibited chemical and 100 intoxicating tablets besides netting nine suspects in 15 operations throughout the country during the last three days.
A spokesperson said on Saturday a team conducted an operation at the Islamabad International Airport and recovered 434 grams of heroin from the possession of a passenger, a resident of Buner, who was going to Sharjah on flight ER-703.
ANF North recovered 70 intoxicating tablets from the possession of an Afghan national who was arrested from F-11 Markaz Islamabad area.
In a joint operation, the ANF and the FC recovered 36kg marijuana and 1.5kg ice from an area in Khyber. In two operations conducted on Quetta and Taftan Highway, the ANF seized 51kg marijuana.
In yet another operation at the Islamabad International Airport, the ANF also recovered 53 heroin-filled capsules from the possession of a passenger, a resident of Khyber, going to Sharjah on flight PA-212. In another operation at the Faisalabad Airport, 1,830 grams ice was recovered from the possession of a Bahrain-bound passenger, a resident of Mandi Bahaudin. Moreover, in two operations near Chaman Bypass, the ANF teams recovered 1,604 litres of prohibited chemical.
During an ANF operation, 50kg hashish was recovered from secret cavities of a bus stopped near Quetta-Hazarganji Chowk.
The spokesman said the ANF in different operations conducted in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad netted drug suppliers. At a raid at a flat in Gulistan-i-Johar, Karachi, a team recovered 4,590 grams of weed and arrested a woman drug pusher -- a resident of Nowshera.
ANF North recovered 30 intoxicating tablets and 250 grams of marijuana and rounded up three suspects in an operation on GT Road, Rawalpindi. About 48kg marijuana was recovered from an area near Orakzai. Similarly, 48kg marijuana was also recovered from the possession of a resident of Qilla Abdullah.
The ANF claimed to have seized nearly 10kg ice from an area near Chaman at Pak-Afghan border.
Cases have been registered at at the ANF police stations under CNS Act 1997 while further investigations were under way, he added.
