Man held for alleged involvement in kidnapping for ransom of young boy

MARDAN (Online) - The police have arrested a man for allegedly kidnapping a three-year-old child for ransom and also recovered the ransom money and a mobile phone from his possession.

Addressing to a news conference, SP-Investigation Sanaullah Khan told reporters that Muhammad Khan, a resident of Nawankaliy Gujjar Garhi, lodged a report of the disappearance of his three-year-old nephew, Shah Fahad, at the Saddar police station.

He added that later on an unknown person contacted him on his cell phone and demanded Rs500,000 as ransom. He added that later on the heirs paid the said amount and recovered the child.

Taking notice of the media reports about missing of the child, District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Zahidullah Khan took notice of the kidnapping incident.

He added that DPO constituted a police party headed by SP-investigation Sanaullah Khan, DSP City Inam Jan Khan, SHO sadder police station Dawood Khan to investigate the case and arrested the alleged kidnaper.

He added that the investigation team started investigation in the case by using professional tactics, modern scientific lines.

He added that the investigation team arrested the accused involved in the incident named Umair son of Nawshir Khan, resident of Nawankali, Gujar Garhi. He added that during the interrogation, he confessed the crime.

He added that police recovered Rs500,000, two mobile phones and a motorcycle used in the incident.

The officer further said that a case was registered against the alleged kidnaper at Saddar police station.

Later on police produced the nabbed man in the local court for remand and further investigation is underway.
